The Urticaria Association was founded in 2018 because there was no contact and independent counselling centre for people with urticaria for a long time.
We are not an ordinary patient organization. Our approach differs because we consider it necessary to go our own way within the current health system and self-help architecture. We believe that real change is only possible if values such as sustainability of our actions as a patient organization and the human being are at the centre.
For us, patient well-being always comes first, ahead of all monetary interests. We are convinced that medical care based on profit maximization will not last in the long term and will ultimately fall back on society as a whole. That is why we have deliberately chosen to act independently and transparently, free from the influence of the pharmaceutical industry or other financial interests.
Our work is characterized by a holistic approach: We take a comprehensive view of the needs of those affected and ensure that they have access to all relevant information, individual advice and targeted support – fast, flexible and unbureaucratic.
In a health care system that is under increasing pressure and in which gaps in care are growing, we are relying on new forms of self-help and individual solutions that really take people's needs into account. We go our own way because we are convinced that only such an approach will ensure long-term success for people's health and well-being.
Our vision is a health care that is sustainable, characterized by humanity and strengthens society as a whole. We create spaces for knowledge, exchange and help and support people with urticaria, angioedema and others on their way to more self-determination, critical health literacy and thus to more health and well-being.
